MASS CIS
Enhancing Youth Performance & the MOSES Application
The Commonwealth Corporation and the Division of Career Services is providing a training for Youth performance and MOSES. The training is designed for MOSES users who input data for the youth program. It will cover enhancing Youth Services and the MOSES application, as well as WIA Title I Youth, with a focus on performance measures and common measures. This training is designed to help ensure that Youth staff and vendors provide consistent and high quality services to our Youth customers and record information correctly in the MOSES system.

Updated Trade Adjustment Assistance Program and Related MOSES Training Sessions
The DCS Trade Unit and the MOSES training staff will conduct seven, one-day training sessions covering all aspects of the changes to the Trade Adjustment Assistance program (TAA) resulting from enactment of the Trade and Globalization Adjustment Assistance Act of 2009 (Division B, Title I, Subtitle I of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009) which significantly amended the TAA program. The changes were announced in Training and Employment Guidance Letter No. 22-08, Operating Instructions for Implementing the Amendments to the Trade Act of 1974 Enacted by the Trade and Globalization Adjustment Assistance Act of 2009 (5/16/2009) (see link, below). The changes were effective as of May 18, 2009.

The sessions will cover changes to the Act and associated regulations and how the changes affect policies and procedures regarding the main elements of the TAA Program, itself as well as Trade Readjustment Allowances (TRA) and the Reemployment / Alternative Trade Adjustment Assistance Program (RTAA / ATAA).

NOTE: This training is essential for all career center managers and staff who either administer the TAA program at the local level or provide direct assistance to TAA eligible customers.

This training session lasts a full day. Staff who register to attend this training, are expected to be current MOSES users with a working knowledge of the MOSES application. Completion of MOSES 101 is a prerequisite to attending this training. This is a full day program.

Leave Record Training
The Leave Record is a document used by the state to track state employee time and attendance. DCS is transitioning from the paper and pencil version to a new electronic spreadsheet that will assist managers / record keepers to accurately track employee's time and attendance. The training will be in the use of this new electronic form.

Technical and Staff Training
The DCS/DUA Human Resources Training office provides technical and staff training. Technical training consists of learning software on the PC (Word, ACCESS, EXCEL, Outlook, etc.). Staff training provides soft skills, such as Time Management, New Employee Orientation, Preventing Sexual Harassment in the Workplace, etc. For those staff with access they can see the offerings on the DWD Intranet.

MOSES 101
Participants will learn the fundamentals of the Massachusetts One-Stop Employment System (MOSES) and will be able to utilize the system to perform their routine employment service functions.

MOSES 201, a MOSES Refresher
The MOSES 201, a MOSES Refresher will provide a broad walk through of all the areas covered in MOSES. It will be conducted as a walk through of each part of MOSES. With a question and answer format. It is not a hands-on MOSES training, but rather a quick refresher / training for managers and staff providing detailed information on MOSES. Full day class program.

MOSES Case Management
This training takes the case manager through the steps of using the Case Management tool in MOSES. Learn how to enter information on each person you case manage, and how to view your entire caseload in MOSES.

MOSES Introduction to Trade Training for Career Center Staff
The Division of Career Services is conducting MOSES Trade training to support the successful implementation of the enhancements and changes to MOSES. This will include Trade, and Rapid Response. This is an introduction to the Trade program, Career Center Staff that work closely with the Trade program should attend the training session, if they are not familiar with it. This training session lasts a full day. Staff who register to attend this training, are expected to be current MOSES users with a working knowledge of the MOSES application. MOSES Lab
It's a proven fact that the more you enter information in MOSES, the faster and better you become at it. Use the MOSES Lab, a supervised experience, to engrain routines (job orders, case management, special programs, events, etc.) and improve your productivity. Bring all questions and information needed to spend a practical and supervised day away from the phones and demands of the office. All work will be done in the MOSES Production database. Seating is limited, so take advantage of this unique opportunity! Open to all MOSES users: staff, vendors and management.
Prerequisites: Must have taken MOSES 101. For specific topics, like Case Management Tool in MOSES, EAS training, youth, etc., you must have taken that training.
NOTE: Please send your MOSES area of interest with your registration (i.e.: Case Management, Employer records, Job Seeker records, Trade, Administration, et cetera.)

Massachusetts Career Information Systems (MASS CIS)
The Massachusetts Division of Career Services (DCS) offers the Massachusetts Career Information System (MassCIS) free on-line to all Massachusetts residents. MassCIS is designed to provide occupational, wage and educational information to help people make better-informed career and school choices.

DCS holds the Massachusetts license for the Career Information System (CIS), a comprehensive, interactive system developed by intoCareers, a division of the College of Education at the University of Oregon. Thousands of schools, state agencies, and individuals throughout the United States use CIS products. DCS provides the occupational and school information for Massachusetts.
